The German Shepherd Dog Liaison Council is responsible for the safe keeping of the German Shepherd Dog Breed of South Africa and strives to maintain the temperament, health and function of the breed as per the breed standard.
We are are the representatives of the German Shepherd Dog Breed within the Kennel Union of South Africa (KUSA).
The KUSA is internationally recognised by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) as a full member partner and represents the FCI in South Africa and has jurisdiction over neighboring regions including Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland.
The KUSA’s full membership status with the FCI ensures that the KUSA is authorized to issue pedigrees that are recognised and accepted INTERNATIONALLY under the FCI umbrella.
Beyond its full membership with the FCI, the KUSA also maintains reciprocal, bilateral agreements with major international bodies like The Kennel Club (UK), the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).
THE KUSA IS THE ONLY LEGALLY AUTHORISED ORGANISATION IN SOUTH AFRICA ALLOWED TO REGISTER PURE BRED DOGS IN SOUTH AFRICA AS DETERMINED BY THE REGISTRAR OF ANIMAL IMPROVEMENT: DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, FORESTRY AND FISHERIES
